What is Zepbound?
Zepbound® (tirzepatide) is an FDA-approved prescription medication for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related condition. It is a dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist, meaning it activates two hormone pathways to help control appetite and blood sugar.
How is Zepbound different from Ozempic® or Wegovy®?
While Ozempic and Wegovy activate only GLP-1 receptors, Zepbound activates both GIP and GLP-1 receptors. This dual mechanism may lead to greater weight loss in some patients. Zepbound is available as both pens and vials.
What's the difference between Zepbound pens and vials?
| Feature | Vial | Pen |
|---|---|---|
| Form | Single-use vial with syringe | Pre-filled pen |
| Storage | Refrigerate. Room temp up to 21 days | Refrigerate. Room temp up to 30 days |

Safety info: GLP-1 medications are used to treat obesity or overweight (with weight-related problems), along with diet and exercise. They may have serious side effects, including possible thyroid tumors. Do not use if you or your family have a history of a type of thyroid cancer called MTC or MEN 2.
