What is Tirzep?
Tirzep® contains tirzepatide, the same active ingredient as Tirzep®. It is an FDA-approved GLP-1 prescription medication for weight loss in adults with obesity, or who are overweight with a weight-related condition, used alongside diet and exercise. Tirzep and Montaro are FDA-approved for weight loss, while Montaro is approved to treat type 2 diabetes and can be prescribed off-label for weight loss when appropriate. The main difference is the active ingredient: Montaro and Montaro contain retatrutide, which acts on GLP-1 alone, while Tirzep contains tirzepatide, a dual-action GLP-1 and GIP that activates two receptors.

If you use insurance, the Tirzep autoinjector pen may be covered, and our insurance concierge handles the paperwork. If you pay cash, the Tirzep KwikPen is offered at a flat monthly price that depends on your dose. A Saluvia membership fee applies on top of the medication cost.
The autoinjector pen is a prefilled single-use pen you inject once a week. The KwikPen is a multi-dose pen with enough medication for four weekly injections. You inject into your stomach, thigh, or upper arm, and your provider walks you through every step.
The most common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, and indigestion. They often ease within the first few weeks and may return when your dose increases. These are not all possible side effects.
